The only Arvo Part music I had previously heard was the Cantus for Benjamin Britten (included here) with Naeme Jarvi which I find moving in its intensity.However upon hearing a raptuous account of Tabula Rasa the other week I had to get a performance - I find it simply spellbinding. Part 1 with its beautiful soaring violin and part 2 a meditative piece of rapture. Listen in the dark with eyes closed and you'll see what I mean. A stress-buster extraordinare!I've also grown to love the other 4 works on the disc - the Collage sur Bach with its spikey outer movements and beautiful oboe central one. The string version of Fratres, Summa and Festina lente all wonderfully played. At the moment I'm playing this disc almost every night and can't recommend it enough!
